Swim
Comments: I thought I swam pretty wide but my time was average for me. What would you do differently?: I probably need swim lessons. I hardly ever do drills because what's the point if you don't know if you're doing them right. Transition 1
Comments: My transitions are always bad - had more than usual wetsuit removal problems. What would you do differently?: Next pair of bike shoes won't have 3 straps. Need to run in transition. Lube my ankles more. Bike
Comments: The 1st and last part of the course meanders thru town so hard to get speed up. One really sharp turn onto Hwy. Hwy had traffic and had to move into car lane to pass. Back on trail which was straight, flat, and shaded - had a few asphalt bumps here and there. I passed A LOT of bikers (mostly mountain bikes - haha) What would you do differently?: I need to work on bike handling skills so I can take corners faster Transition 2
Comments: My husband showed up and was taking pictures so I had to pose a bit. What would you do differently?: Didn't put my Garmin on this time but didn't save me any time. I ate a GU which I probably didn't need. Run
Comments: Walked too much - it was hot What would you do differently?: My runs have been bad lately and I don't know why. Training runs are good. Might be related to my getting faster on the bike. Post race
Warm down: My husband and I took some more pics. Met the other woman in my age group. Had a donut. Talked to Tanya (Troy's wife). Stayed for door prizes - won a CO2 change kit. They did not have awards but announced the placers. However, they stopped at 55-59 - didn't announce any 60+. Disappointed, especially since I beat all the women in both the 50-54 and 55-59 groups. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm old Event comments: Very good race for a new tri. Gave it a 4 rating but next year I bet it's 5. Gave post-race activities a "below average" because they didn't give awards. Last updated: 2010-07-07 12:00 AM

Bagel with PB/honey. Drove up (30" north of where I live) early because I was unsure of the bike route thru town and wanted to know the turns before the race. It was very well marked so felt more comfortable but then had a long wait time. Ran into Troy and Rick. Read the Sunday paper and drank some more coffee (which I shouldn't do) and ate an energy bar.
Weather was gorgeous but I knew it would be too warm at run time.
Swam a few strokes
