Swim
Comments: Much more relaxed than first time. Was in the back of the pack to start. Hung on to some feet for first 200 but then got tired and backstroked a bit. Fell out of the pack then. Never felt like I had a good rhythm in my stroke. Didn't freak out like last year so that was a bonus but was more tired by the effort I think due to lack of training but also didn't feel smooth. What would you do differently?: Train train train and train some more. Transition 1
Comments: Ran up the hill from the beach. Quick into shoes but got a little hung up getting bike off. Start was ok but wobbled a bit. What would you do differently?: Need to practice leaving shoes on bike and more of a running mount. Bike
Comments: Felt good on bike. Used aerobars as much as I could. Prolly should have finished my bottle of electrolyte drink but didn't. Had a couple of shot blocks. Could have pushed a little harder on the climb in but was a bit afraid of having nothing left on the run. Ride was not nearly as difficult as the previous attempt. What would you do differently?: Push myself more on the climb in....also train more for run so less concern about bike using up my reserves. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't have yanks on this pair of shoes. Took a long time to get socks on and shoes tied. What would you do differently?: I'm looking at getting shoes that I can run in without socks. Seems like the socks get you somewhere in transition either T1 or T2.... Run
Comments: So this was far better than the eternity it took me to finish it last time but still is not a fun run. The run is my weakest of the three and this certainly shows it. I will say I think I could have finished a bit faster but my sock felt like a cheese grater on my right arch. I have a lovely inch long blister to show for it. What would you do differently?: run...run hard and run often. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit after. Had some electrolyte drink and water. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of consistent training, not nearly enough swimming or running. Bike was much improved. Carrying extra weight...need to continue weightloss. Blister was also serious damper on run Event comments: Only due to fire road run..bleh! Overall this was an improvement for me but there is plenty of room for more ...I did enjoy myself much more than the last race so that is a bonus too. So much I'm looking at my next race option..must be nuts! And they still didn't call my name at the finish!! Last updated: 2010-07-08 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30, showered, had a pbj on the way to race. Got there at 6:30 or so as planned. Picked up packet and racked my bike. Got numbered but hadn't put my sunscreen on so had to get my arms re-numbered..ooops. Chatted with a few people around me. Was generally more at ease than at first tri. Was chilly until the sun came up with a bit of a breeze.
Did a 100 yards or so in the water prior to swim and some arms stretches.
