Total Time = 3h 34m 52s
Overall Rank = 123/126
Age Group = Women 25-29
Age Group Rank = 11/11
Pre-race routine:

Got up painfully early. Packed up and drove to Brockville.
Event warmup:

Was there kind of early. Set up in a sweet transition spot. Ate some bananas. Made nervous chatter with strangers.
Swim
  • 56m 48s
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m 47s / 100 meters
Comments:

Oh wow, I went WAY off course in my second loop. I was disoriented in the waves and started sighting off of the wrong buoy. A kayaker didn't stop me until I was about a couple hundred meters off course. And she was quite rude about it. I actually got lapped by the faster swimmers.

I was the last one out of the water by a long shot.
What would you do differently?:

Sight correctly!
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

time above for swim includes T1

Suit got stuck on heels a bit. Tried to slow down and take my time as my head was still reeling from my horrible swim. Didn't want to forget things.
What would you do differently?:

Not have my suit stuck on my heels.
Bike
  • 1h 31m 29s
  • 25.6 miles
  • 16.79 mile/hr
Comments:

This course was pretty silly...it was open to traffic and was a busy street! Almost had a close call with a stupid truck and I noticed some other athletes having problems.

The way out was pretty fast going, some rolling hills on the way back. Nothing too major, just enough to be a bother. :)

Caught up with a few folks but my swim put me pretty far behind everyone else so my second loop was a bit lonely.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster! Need to do more hills.

Need to learn to drink on the bike. Got dehydrated.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

T2 time included in run time

The bike racks were so short that it was really hard to rack the bike.

Transition was poorly controlled...people that finished the duathlon and sprint triathlon were just hanging out and blocking the exit. Nice.
What would you do differently?:

I'm so slow changing from my bike shoes to my run shoes!
Run
  • 1h 06m 35s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

My time includes T2, wasn't that slow. I actually felt pretty good during the run so no complaints about my performance. I had to stop to walk a couple of times but that's because I had a painful blister, not because I was tired. Not sure why I always get a blister in the same spot in tris...I never get one when I'm just running. And yes my feet are dry when I put on my socks. Hmm.

I also had to pee really, really badly. There wasn't a portapotty on the course which I thought was silly. Also, the aid station just had water. I could have used something a little more but oh well. Seems to me I was told they would have a sports drink.
What would you do differently?:

Not get a blister!

Run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

By the time I finished most people were packing up and leaving. Grabbed some food and packed up as well.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My horrible sighting mistake on my swim! Apparently I felt like doing closer to a HIM swim...

This set me back so much that it was difficult to catch up with others. Caught a couple, but not many.

Looking back I feel as though I could have pushed myself on the run more.

Event comments:

I am only giving this race 3 stars because I found some of the volunteers to be quite rude, they were NOT happy to be there. At other races I've done volunteers have been great and very encouraging. Here it was like they begrudged you for making them be there. Not all of them, but about 1/2 of the ones I came across.

The transition area could also be more organized/controlled and they need to find a better bike course.

Other than those problems it was a good race and I certainly don't mean to give the impression that it was horrible - just pointing out some areas for improvement.
