Swim
Comments: I sited well and had a good line to the first buoy, butwhen I got to the buoy there about 10 people that just seemed to stop at the buoy. I ahd to push my way through them and lost a lot of time. The rest of the swim wasn't too bad. There was a lot of contact but I am getting more comfortable at holding my line. 1:44 off from last race 0:54 off from median time in AG What would you do differently?: Stay away from that firsy buoy. I knew the current was pushing everyone north so I should have started further south on the beach and angled it just past the buoy. Transition 1
Comments: This was a great transition. 8 seconds faster than last race. Glad I picked the taller of the 2 bike racks. 0:08 faster than last race 0:14 faster than median AG time What would you do differently?: Rack my bike closer to the middle than on the end to prevent getting blocked or having to navigate past the people who have brought enough gear to camp out in the transition area. Come on ppl, it's a sprint! Bike
Comments: I had a hard time finding a good cadence/gear combo to get comfortable with on the out. Seemed I could catch everyone in front of me, but after I passed I had to slow way down and just ended up giving back up the position I gained. Averaged 18.5 on the out. On the back I found I could turn a bigger gear and averaged 21 on the way back. The last .25 miles I was steady 25mph +. 0:50 off from last race 0:43 off from median AG time What would you do differently?: push harder on the out....ride in those big boy gears Transition 2
Comments: A good t2. Gto hung up a little by slower ppl in front of me getting to my rack. 0:05 off from last race 0:10 faster than medina AG time What would you do differently?: Rack closer to the transition in/out path. Run
Comments: Calves have been tight all week and they were hurting today. Never could get into a comfortable stride. Mental toughness to push through just wasn't there today. 5:34 off from last race 5:00 off from median AG time. They did change the run course to seperate the run start from run finish area to avoid head on running at the last turn. What would you do differently?: Suck it up! The 5.5 minutes I lost from the last race cosy me 7 positions in AG! I need to start wearing my Zensahs again. HAven't wore them in a couple of weeks and the claves strain/shin splints are back Post race
Warm down: Walking and stretching around the finish area What limited your ability to perform faster: Mental toughness, need to HTFU Event comments: I absolutely love this course. Small race and not alot going on post-race. But well organized. Last updated: 2010-07-13 12:00 AM
