Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5am. Drank some water and Gatorade and ate a powerbar. Had everything ready the night before and left hotel at 0530. Got into trans area at 0630. Set up Trans and got body marked. Drank some more water and Gatorade.

Comments:

Right when I got into the water my goggles fogged up and it was overcast. I really couldnt see anything but wasnt going to stop in the surf and try to fix them. I made it past the surf and to the 1st buoy and tried to fix my goggles but couldnt get them right so I just proped them on my head continued to swim
What would you do differently?:

Need to get some new goggles and put some anti-fog in them.

The bike was good. Climed out of the Trans with no problem and got into a good pace. Thought I did it a little faster but felt good.
What would you do differently?:

I could have pushed it a little bit harder.

My left shin and foot started to hurt during the 1st 1.5 mile but it was okay the 2nd half of the race.
What would you do differently?:

Work on a longer stride, push it a little harder the 2nd half.

Warm down:

Finished and got some water and oranges and a banana. Streched a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Couldnt really get into a good rhythm during the swim and legs sorta hurt at the beginning of the run.

Event comments:

This was a really good race. The course was challenging but not too bad. It was well organized and eveyone was real helpful. I am excited to do it next year for the 30th anniversary!

Course: Ran along the sea wall (flat) and then up a pretty steep hill to the road. Then it was mostly flat and then slightly down hill to the turn around. Then flat and slightly up hill to the finish.
