Swim
Comments: Two minutes faster than last year, but I had hoped to be faster. I am a very middle of the pack swimmer. I'm happy just to have a comfortable swim. This year was all about feeling comfortable in the water and this goal was achieved. Transition 1
Comments: This was far better than last year's 8:10. There is a long run to yellow transition, about 750 yds I think, that is included in this time (for those not in the know). I take full advantage of the park benches to get my wetsuit off before running in to T1, I mean, why the hell not? All else went well: helmet, sunglassed, etc. Bike
Comments: I leapfrogged with another woman who turned out to be a fellow blogger (we follow each other's blogs), how weird is that? We kept pushing each other and it was a great run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I was pretty happy with this run being only my second year doing this race or tri altogether. Transition 2
Comments: Geez, you would think I was having tea with the Queen! Can't explain it. I know it was smooth and I didn't feel like I was in there that long. It was still an improvement over last year. Run
Comments: It was hotter than blazes. In fact, this turned out to be the hottest summer in NYC on record. They had some volunteers standing with hoses at the aid stations; that was so great! I am not a runner....period. I have been working on my run, but it is still not up to par. However, I pushed through mentally to finish this because I had gone all out on the bike. I knew that I was taking the risk on the bike and that I might have to sacrifice my run, but I have no regrets. Post race
Warm down: beer Event comments: This was a 24 minute improvement over last year's race. I was thrilled with this. I went all out on this and am very happy with the results. There is also nothing like running a race in NYC, the crowds are amazing and the cheering just carries you along like no other place. I will do this race again and again! I guess my only complaint is that the bike course gets really crowded due to the number of participants. You almost can't help but draft at times despite best efforts not to. I don't know if anyone got any penalties for this. Last updated: 2010-07-14 12:00 AM

I live just blocks from the transition area so I slept in as long as possible before walking over to the race site. The rest? Who cares really...
A nice 1 mile walk to the swim start.
