Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4am, shaved, had a banana and waited for my friend Kurt to come over. Then headed over to pick up my buddy Chip.
Event warmup:

A little swimming.
Swim
  • 30m 21s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had a decent start but got cut off by 2 people. Was able to get on some feet after the first turn buoy and held them until the finish. Got out and saw 30+' on the watch and was very disappointed. Was hoping for 26-27'.

But almost everyone said they thought the swim course was long.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Didn't do a flying dismount as I have not been practicing. It was a long run from swim exit to the entrance to T1. Not a bad T1.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 12m 27s
  • 24.8 miles
  • 20.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a great bike for me at all. 1st lap was okay, but still slower then I wanted. On the 2nd lap I broke my aero pad. Then coming back into transition I realized my rear tire was low. Must have had a slow leak that caused me to race the entire bike with a half flat tire.
What would you do differently?:

Not break shit!
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Not a bad T2. Got to my spot and there was a bike blocking most of the rack. Had a little trouble with shoes, wish I would have remembered to put body glide on them.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 49m 37s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m  min/mile
Comments:

My goal was to go sub 50 on the run, so this was the only good part of the day. Did the first mile in about 8:05, so the next 5 miles were a little faster. It was overcast which was awesome and they had ice cold water. :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

FOOD

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't bring any gels for the race, which i usually take during an olympic distance race. Flat tire and long swim course.

Event comments:

Wish they would have moved a little quicker with the awards ceremony but otherwise this is an awesome race.
