Total Time = 1h 33m 45s
Overall Rank = 70/138
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/10
Pre-race routine:

Nice not to have to get up in the dark! Had breakfast, left around 7, got to park ~8:00.
Event warmup:

Got a good long swim warm-up
Swim
  • 17m 23s
  • 800 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

HOT, HOT, HOT - I think perhaps someone rounded down on the water temp reading. I should've left my wetsuit in the car!! I think this was the best I've ever done sighting, but got really hot in between buoy #1 and buoy #2 and ended up backstroking a little bit. Then I realized it was cooler if my face was IN the water. Did much better then...

Also, I didn't have much trouble with "traffic" until approaching the first buoy - got bumped and bumped into a few people near that buoy. Once I got around the first buoy, I found some open water again.
What would you do differently?:

Leave wetsuit in car!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Finally got the wetsuit removal technique down. In the past I've had trouble with it getting stuck on my calves. I think this was one of the fastest T1 times I've ever had!
What would you do differently?:

Not wear the wetsuit and make it even faster!!
Bike
  • 46m 37s
  • 12 miles
  • 15.45 mile/hr
Comments:

This is about what I expected since I haven't been on the bike much this year (and this course was pretty hilly).
What would you do differently?:

Train more on the bike!
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Not bad...
Run
  • 27m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Yikes - the "damn dam" was steeper than I had anticipated. I power walked up it and I think coming back down slowed me down even more than going up! Really started to pick up the pace once I got back down off the dam.
What would you do differently?:

I should have pushed harder along the top of the dam.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked some, got some water, stretched. Got some food - met some fellow BTers...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of bike training!

Event comments:

I liked this race because it was close to home and the venue was nice. I will definitely try to do it again next year.
