Swim
Comments: I felt great. I Made it all the way around with no problem I did not have to stop at all. I did have a problem sighting the second marker but I just followed the people in front of me and new I was on course. I actually ended up exactly where I wanted to be when I turned at both markers What would you do differently?: I started slow by walking out into the water and I started to swim slowly in case I needed to conserve my energy. The next time I do this I will be more confident in my swim capabilities and push a little harder. I really enjoyed the swim very much. Transition 1
Comments: It took me time to get my wet suit off and you would have thought I was there waiting for Lunch to be served before I transitioned to the Bike. I also had to put two bandages on my feet before I put on my socks because of some callouses I have on my feet. What would you do differently?: Practice this a lot more. I was the second worst of all the competitors in T1. Need to cut this time in at least half next time. Bike
Comments: Was slow getting on my bike and clipping in but overall Biking was a blast. The hill on Mile 10 is rough but you know it is all down hill to the park from there. This was the first time I raced with other people. In training it was just me and clock. So I enjoyed competing with other participants on the course What would you do differently?: Working on getting up the hills faster. I think this will improve my time greatly. Transition 2
Comments: Changed from Bike shoes to my running shoes and grabbed a bottle of gatorade and brought it with me. What would you do differently?: practice !!! Run
Comments: Could not get my legs moving at the start. I ran with my gatorade bottle to make sure I was getting enough Hydration. I ended up walking up the Damn Dam !! and slowly making my way to the end of the dam. I picked it up at the last half mile and I was greeted by my 9 year old grandson that ran the last 25 yards with me to the finish line. What would you do differently?: Push harder on the run. I could have done better but I held back at the beginning Post race
Warm down: greeted my family and I did not walk much. I had some food and water and sat at a picnic table. I want to thank my Wife and my family for all their support !! What limited your ability to perform faster: I think that I may have been limited by the fact that this was my first race and did not know how much to push since my main goal was to finish. I did not want to DNF. Now I know that I can do the whole race and will push harder. My T1 was ridiculous !!! I could not believe that 4 minutes clicked by that fast. I have to work on that for sure ! Event comments: For my first race this was great. I enjoyed the event very much !! will do this race again in the future. Last updated: 2010-07-19 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon and I have been training for this day for about a year. This is part of my healthy lifestyle change that I made over the last two years. Exercise and eating right have enabled me to lose 120 lbs. over this period of time.
Did not sleep much the night before. Got up and did my Stretching routine at Home and ate a Bagle and Gatorade. Pumped up my bike tires and loaded up my car. Drove to the race with my wife at 7:30. As I came up to the park I could see the markers out in the lake and wondered how I was going to make it around the course.
Did some swimming to get loose and to get my mind set on fact that I could make it around the swim course. Also, Thanks to JCC for helping me figure out how to get my number on my Bike.
