Swim
Comments: I start off slow, pacing myself. I see the first bouy, and go around it and proceeded to the next bouy. I get to the next bouy had to stop because my goggles got kicked off and it was affecting my sight. I get to the next bouy fine, the one after that, again my goggles got kicked off and it was affecting my sight and fogging up my goggles. I get to the last bouy and turned in making my way to the shore. I finished the swim. I paced myself and knew that I did not finish the swim in a good time.I am walking to T1. What would you do differently?: I need to train with a watch. There is really nothing I can do if my goggles get kicked off. Maybe stay to the outside away from the pack. I need to train more in the open water. Disappointed with time. Transition 1
Comments: Difficulty putting on socks. Fueled up with a gel pack and water. What would you do differently?: Get used to cycling without socks and get a pair of Tri shoes. Bike
Comments: I get on the bike, the course was a good course overall. The course was changed 2 days prior to the event. A little hilly with some turns. Did not preview the course. Got caught up in a couple of corners with other riders. What would you do differently?: In addition to a Powerbar gel, I should have taken a salt tablet. Need to practice hills. Transition 2
Comments: No T2 time was recorded, there was a glitch with the system. I get to T2; I fuel up with a gel pack and finishing the rest of my PowerBar Endurance drink. Run
Comments: Running is my strength. I get running and I am slowly passing people. I started getting very mild cramps in my rib cage area. It was then that I realized I forgot to take a salt tablet. It appears that the T2 time was included so I guess I did this in 25 minutes giving me a pace of around 8:20. I ran strong and sprinted to the finish line. I may have set a pr for a 5k run but cannot tell since T2 is included. What would you do differently?: Take a salt tablet prior to the run. Wear visor instead of hat. Post race
Warm down: Stretched. Walked around for 5-10 minutes, Drank some vitamin water called H10o provided by race. Ate a bagel & banana. Drank Ultragen as a recovery drink. Got my calves massaged. Enjoyed the rest of the day on the beach. What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim is all I can say. Event comments: Thanks to everyone who was involved with putting on a good race. From the registration to the volunteers to the food at the end, it was a great race and I am glad I participated in it. This was my first tri with a .5 mile swim and second tri overall. I know I have a lot of work to do in the swimming dept. It was a gorgeous day for a triathlon and I am already looking fwd to next year. Great Job Everyone! Last updated: 2010-07-19 12:00 AM

Whole Wheat English muffin with water mixed with Carbo-Pro. Packed transition bag the night before so it was a quick packing up the car. Racked my bike. Picked up friends who wanted to come to support me and headed to the race. 40 minute drive.
Some stretching and swam in the water for a few minutes.
