Pre-race routine:

Arrived the park at 5:20. set up the Transition, waited for the timing chip.
Event warmup:

not much, just moved around between setting up Ts, picking up the timing chip, and bathroom
Swim
  • 17m 4s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I did well up to the first buoy. Then started to feel difficulty breathing from tightness of wet suits. Had to stop several times to breath.
What would you do differently?:

maybe try swimming without wet suits. arrive earlier.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Bike
  • 41m 28s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 18.09 mile/hr
Comments:

I think I did well for my 2nd race ever. Especially with an old hybrid bike my friend gave me.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe get a road bike to improve time.
Transition 2
  • 23m 39s
Comments:

My T2 time should've been around 1min but like many other athletes, my T2 & Run time got screwed because T2 gate was not working?

Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I think my run time must have been around 22:40. I felt little cramping on left calf at the beginning, so I took it easy. Running on grass and dirt parts of course helped ease the pressure on calf. Since I got passed by someone right on the finish line on my first tri, I wanted to sprint across the finish line. I pushed so hard almost fainted as I crossed the line.
What would you do differently?:

new running shoes?
Post race
Warm down:

had lots of drinks, banana and pasta salad.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

again not enough OWS experience with wetsuits.

Event comments:

I thought if timing chips were handed out at the registration the day before, it would've eliminate the long line for it. It was a great race and many thanks to organizer and volunteers!

I realized after I got home that my heart rate monitor was displaying in % in stead of HR. duh! My maximum hate rate was 210. I guess I pushed myself pretty hard. Wanna try again next year.
