Run
Comments: Ok, I ran it easy to keep my hip from hurting. It was uncomfortable and slow but i discovered that if I kept my pace down and my stride short I felt ok. Transition 1
Comments: I was one of the last ones into transition because of my run. I'm used to seeing a transition full of bikes, this looked like a ghost town. I was in no hurry, I just walked through transition. Bike
Comments: I oved this ride but I did start cramping up on it because of all the climbing. I probably should have used some endurolytes but I thought my sport drink would contain enough electrolytes, apparently not. I'm a pretty salty sweater. What would you do differently?: I should have had my bento box for a 40K ride, had some endurolytes available and kept my gel in it. As usual, when I tape a gel to my top tube it is gone when I go to reach for it. Since I do so many sprints I always end up forgetting this fact. Transition 2
Comments: Are you kindding? My hip was thrashed by now. I could barely move my right leg. I sort of hobble/shuffeled through transition and it probaly took a good 200 or 300 yards before my hip muscles unlocked enough to allow me to start running at my injury pace. Run
Comments: What can I say, ouch. I just kept moving. It was a little frustrating because I felt like I had some extra energy but I just was not willing to try and move faster. I don't know if I could have but I am pretty sure I would have hurt myself if I tried. Post race
Event comments: Despite being injured I really enjoyed this race a lot. The scenery was beautiful and I was going slow enough to enjoy it. The weather was awesome, the shirts were cool and they also gave away hats to match the shirts. Even though I'm not a big fan of Duathlon, this one is a new annual event on my must do list.
