Note to self: do not try and adjust goggles right before start. My goggle strap snapped while treading water at the start buoy right as the announcer said "3 minutes until start". Had to jury-rig and tie some stuff together while treading. Worked out ok but my heart stopped for 30 seconds when I heard the snap.

Swim went well; a faster field than I am used to. Wore a wetsuit (which I don't enjoy and doesn't make me faster) because of jellyfish warnings but didn't see any jellies and overheated a bit in the wetsuit - wish I had gone without. The boat ramp exit was supper slippery - I slipped a couple times, one of which tore a chunk out of my toe. Good thing I was only doing the swim leg today; I probably couldn't have run on that toe even if I had wanted to.

Well organized, low key race. I'll be back next year, perhaps for the Aqua Velo (my running is still not up to marathon-distance).
