Pre-race routine:

Eat breakfast and finish waking up from going to a wedding the night before.
Event warmup:

I really wish they opened up the swim course a little earlier. There was so many people it was crazy trying to warm up 10 minutes before my wave went off.
Swim
  • 11m 25s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

My swim as always sucked. I tried to warm up right up until the start because that routine has worked for me at swim class. Do a big warm up and then I'm more relaxed for the swim. Man did it back fire. I wanted to start in the back of the pack, but I just couldn't get back there with the huge crowd on the beach. The start was called and I think no less than three people jumped on me and at least one grabbed me by the ackle and I had to kick him off. It really sucked. I was panicked, but tried to stroke through it. All the work I have put in and I still hate the swim and suck at it.
What would you do differently?:

Get to the back of the pack and then catch people. RELAX. I do this distance three times during OWS class, but at the race I gas out because I stress and stroke to fast. I need to slow down.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

I was still pretty upset about my swim so I kind of sucked at this one
What would you do differently?:

Get over it and HTFU
Bike
  • 38m 17s
  • 13 miles
  • 20.37 mile/hr
Comments:

My goal was to average 20 MPH and I did so I can't complain. This is a really flat course so I would be mad at myself if I didn't make that goal.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

Man was I locked up. People I passed at the end of the bike killed me here.
What would you do differently?:

DO MORE BRICK WORK!!!!!
Run
  • 25m 22s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

I really wanted to push myself and I did. No body passed me at the last second and nobody was next to me at the finish so I don't know how someone tied my overall time from the same swim wave. I would have tried to outkick them.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was great pace for me. My average is usually 8:30-9:30 so I did good.
Post race
Warm down:

Drink and walk and some light stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramping hamstrings.

Event comments:

I liked the race although I had to leave before the 11:30 lunch. The volunteers were great and everything was great except the swim and swim warm up time. I'm sure they are worried about everyone, but I need more time to warm up.
