Overall Rank = 12/224
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 6/26
Pre-race routine:

headed down to derby got there at 6ish, picked up my packet, got racked right by the transition entrance and stood around a bit
Event warmup:

more standing around
Swim
  • 05m 46s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

i've funally won a swim, which was pretty dang cool, but kevin nickel is getting faster and faster in the water, i went into the water 5th, caught the 4th guy within the first 100, and #3 was nickel so i only gained a bit on him
What would you do differently?:

train more
Transition 1
  • 00m 27s
Comments:

flew into transition on kevin nickels heels, T1 has never been under a minute for me before, but since i swam with the jersey on, it wsa just helmet on and out the door, ended up with the 2nd faster T1 for the day and came out right with Nickel
What would you do differently?:

racked by the exit and not the entrance
Bike
  • 38m 50s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.63 mile/hr
Comments:

fast bike by my standards, pasted the number 2 guy right out of transition, by the time i had my shoes on Nickel was gone, kept him in view for almost 4 miles though, about 8 miles in was passed by Shawn stafford, who had started like 10th, then was passed by a older guy who was #7, then came into t2 as the fourth rider.
What would you do differently?:

i've only ridden the tri bike twice in the last month. Not bueno
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

came into transition moving fast, got the leg over the bar and came tearing off my bike, got into transition, and couldnt find my damn shoes. had a oh Sh!t moment, but got it located and shoes and socks on
What would you do differently?:

located my crap better
Run
  • 22m 56s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

pretty normal for me. I like being alone out on the course, and then it all goes down hill after i start getting passed, had a 18 year old blaze by me on the run pretty early, followed by about 4 other guys over the first 2 miles, then just 1 person passed me the last mile but i had seriously lost pace by then. then towards the end of the run i didnt realize were the finish was and probably could have gone a ton faster at the end.
What would you do differently?:

just need to keep practicing the run and it'll get faster i guess
Post race
Warm down:

some food and some conversation, watched the awards and headed home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

swim was good as expected, bike was good for not training hard on the bike, and then run was slower than i want but about right for how i run

Event comments:

was a great race and i'll be back next year
