Different transition. I wanted to reduce my T2 time so I race in my running shoes. Thereby spending the time to put them on in T1.

Practice to reduce Transition times.

Heat and lack of hydration.

Poor race, however, I would do this race again just because I had learned what it takes for this particular race.
