Swim
Comments: Wow! Improved nearly three minutes from my race four weeks ago!! I credit the guy and the gal I shared a lane with on two separate occasions at the Y pool recently. He got my turning my hips, and she fixed my stroke by telling me to do an "S" under water and really PUSHING the water at the end of my stroke - two things that I was not doing at all. The "S" really seems to give me a lot more power. Other than the fact that I made a lot more contact with other swimmers this time, everything went great. Either it was a more crowded field or being a MOP swimmer (or both) must be the reason for the added contact. Sighting went well. Made a bee-line for the first buoy, and only had to make small corrections to get to the second and third. What would you do differently?: Learn to draft. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: I'm actually shocked at how good my time was despite the low AG ranking! My goal was to finish in 60 min based on training times of around 17mph, so I actually asked several people if they thought the bike course was shorter than the 17 miles advertised. Someone confirmed that his Garmin read 16.9. With the right amount of training, I think I could really make great strides on the bike portion. Only once during training did I even go the full 17 miles - last weekend I rode for 18 miles. Other than that, it was generally around 8-10 miles. I have to say I'm surprised at the level of competition. I averaged almost 19mph and was BOP still?? Lot of room for improvement. What would you do differently?: Simple... NEED TO TRAIN MORE ON THE BIKE! Maybe ask for a trainer for Christmas or bday. Transition 2
Comments: Stumbled a bit putting on socks/shoes. What would you do differently?: Stumble less. Run
Comments: My goal was actually to finish the run in 27 and I nailed it. Not really impressive, but at least I hit my goal. I hurt my foot playing soccer Wed night and it may have had a slight impact on my time, though not significant. I believe my conditioning played more of a role. I just need to run more. What would you do differently?: Train more running. Push harder for the last quarter mile. Didn't really kick it into high gear until someone said 200 yards to go. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Conditioning. Event comments: Very well organized. Great event. Only constructive criticism is not enough of a non-carbonated beverage selection post-race. Had a great race. Despite conditioning, I am beside myself at how much I've improved over just four weeks ago. I just need to train more!! Last updated: 2010-07-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30 for 7AM start (I was second wave). Had banana and small bagel w/peanut butter, around 16-20 oz water, and small amount of black coffee. Had nothing for the two hours prior.
Set up T1, had bike looked at at the bike tent (found out I was putting to much grease on my chain), stared down the competition (lol), had a gel about 15 min before my start.
As I started to walk into the lake for a quick w/u, they had everyone get out for the start. So I did a few minutes of stretching.
