Swim
Comments: A nice place to swim. Beach start was mayhem but fun. My goal was to have best swim ever, under 21:00, and do it all freestyle. I did it in 18:28, best swim and longest swim ever, but I did backstroke a few times! What would you do differently?: Keep working with my coach, keep putting more time in. This is improving. I was pleased overall- although this kills any chance I have of medaling- for now. Transition 1
Comments: Couldn't get clipped in and it costs me some time and some aggravation. I handled it and moved on. What would you do differently?: Have shoes clipped in, but I need to practice how to do the whole deal, and I will. Bike
Comments: Everything went great until the last 50 yards on that hill- I ended up walking 30 yards, messed up my shoes, coulnd't get clipped back in. Then on the last mile it is straight downhill ( a ton of speed) but I wasn't clipped in and the bike shook like crazy and I was so close to crashing at 32 mph (I was so scared). 95 percent of the ride was great and I had a great pace and rode with a strong group- the last mile was a downer. What would you do differently?: Work more on hills, hills, and hills. I did work on them some, but apparently not enough. I'll start clipped in and learn to run and jump on. Just keep grinding- it is getting better and better. Sherri was scared to death that I'd wreck- and I almost did. Transition 2
Comments: Easy, I can't do much better. I can shave a few seconds by runnin and working on bike dismount. What would you do differently?: Not much, good time. Run
Comments: I love this course. I passed many people, only passed by 2. I walked 20 steps on the big hill but I flew the last 1/2 mile. Ran the bridge well and enjoyed the run immensely. Had the best sprint at end I"ve ever had. What would you do differently?: Continue running outside and keep running hills. This is also improving at a great rate- I'm very pleased here. I did think my ranking would be higher but I guess I've not earned it- YET! Post race
Warm down: Talked with family, thanked them, looked at where I was on my 40th birthday- thank you God! What limited your ability to perform faster: Not getting clipped in fast enough. Need more pool/lake time. That 20 yds on the hill- so do more hill work. Basically I"m on pace and improving every race- and I have room to keep doing so and I will. Event comments: Favorite race ever- I will be back. The lake is pretty, the run course is the best, and I'll get that hill next year- gagdet! Last updated: 2010-07-25 12:00 AM

Woke at 5:00- slept good for a tiny bed and 3 other people in room in a different state. Ate a bagel with peanut butter and had OJ. Drove to site, biked 2 miles to beach (the hill is killer even during warmup!).
Swam 100 yards in lake. Thanked family and God. Looked at the magnificent scenery- mist rising out of the Appalachian's as we entered a perfect lake!
