Swim
Comments: I was about 25 seconds slower than I said I would be, but still finished 98th (my seed was 128) so more people lied even worse than I did... What would you do differently?: Seed myself higher. Swim more than twice a week to get my time back down to 7:20. Transition 1
Comments: Miscounted Racks! YIKES! What would you do differently?: Go straight to MY bike, dur. Bike
Comments: My computer wasn't working (still haven't figured this one out) so I just went on effort. Did a lot of passing, which is weird for me, thought I was supposed to be a poor cyclist?? LOVED that it was not hot out there. What would you do differently?: Not much, it was a great ride! Transition 2
Comments: Nothing special to see here. I just need to do more mount/dismount practice. And start running sockless. Run
Comments: I just took it easy and refused to let myself walk. My running the past month or so has been pretty slow and ploddy, so I decided not to push. I should have. What would you do differently?: Push more. Run more leading up to the race. Post race
Warm down: Drink powerade, shower, and get breakfast with Mr. and Mrs. Artemis, the future Mr. meherczeg, and my friend Beau who came up to volunteer. YUM RIVER CITY DINER!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Barely squeezing in 3 hours a week, none of it running, is bad for tris, apparently? The goal here wasn't fast, though, it was fun, and that was accomplished! Event comments: A very fun race, love the supportive nature of a women's race, although the first-timerness can be frustrating. I had a blast, and that's what matters. Try to eat, grab coffee, and listen to 80s music for the drive up. That's kind of what I do for tris.
I forgot socks, luckily Artemis was awake but had not left her house and she brought me an assortment of thin socks to try out. LIFESAVER!
Met Carly, and saw an old friend from college who was doing her first tri. She ended up doing about 2 min better than me overall, damn her good run!!
Ate a pop-tart and pooped.
Made fun of people with Neil, Andy and Jen.
