Swim
Comments: So I had originally signed up to do the Olympic distance and I had designated it as an "A" race. After Pewaukee 2 weeks ago I was pretty wiped out and I decided to change to the Sprint and sign up for Oshkosh Oly on the 8th..little more time to recover and get my run back. So I didn't taper going into the race and I wasn't feeling "ready" to race. Had to get myself psyched up for it.. I did requested the elite wave and got it. The first 5 waves were the Oly waves and then we went along with the Athena's and Cylsdales ?? kind of weird but not like I have a lot of experince so maybe it is normal? As I lined up I went right to the front of my wave..then looked behind me at all of these tall..larger..men that were likely to swim right over me..guess I better get my game on...:) In the end I don't know who was swimming over who..or into who...or pushing or pulling who...but a lot of all of that was going on until we got to the first buoy and turned.. then I was able to get away from the mass and ended up having a pretty decent swim. What would you do differently?: Nothing...I had a great split Transition 1
Comments: Long run from the swim through transition to my bike but that was good because less time to run with my bike to bike out. What would you do differently?: I was fiddiling with something...can't remember what..next time not fiddle Bike
Comments: Biking is my weak point. This is my first year biking and I am definitly getting better but this is where I lose time. I had a woman in front of me and I wasn't sure if she was in my wave or was in the oly but I could tell that she was a great biker. I was determined to stick with her and I did for the first 9 or so miles. My quads were burning but I tried to not let off at any time. Luckily she was doing the Oly because she got ahead of me. :) What would you do differently?: I pushed this hard and my legs were feeling it the whole time. I did ease off on a couple of the downhills just to let my legs recover. This was good for me to push it because I now know that for the Oly I will need to pace myself on the bike or else I will have nothing left for the run! Transition 2
Comments: Pretty smooth. What would you do differently?: Not sure what more I could have done..maybe start running and get my race belt on as I ran instead of standing there and putting it on Run
Comments: Hmm...the 6 inches of rain from 3 days before turned the course into a part X-country course only not as nice! I didn't like running on the hay and the wood slats. But I figure everyone had to do it so doesn't do any good to complain. In my other 2 tris I felt like I paced my run which I shouldn't be doing for a 5K...on this run I didn't feel like that but I also didn't feel that my legs were going fast enough..I thought I was going to puke but I still didn't feel like I was pushing hard enough. Not sure what it is..maybe it is just the whole brick thing that makes the run feel weird? What would you do differently?: Strangely my split was within 1 second of my split in Pewaukee and Pleasant Prarie...very weird! Post race
Warm down: First thing was catch my breath and get some much needed water! Walked around and found Bjorn and the girls who wanted to know when DJ and Tammy were going to be done...nice to know they were looking for them and not me ;) They had to leave because Kellsie's cheerleading class was going to be in a parade at 10. So I hung out and chatted, collected my trophy..yep trophy...not a plate;) Took 2nd OA!!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: I went into this race with not totally rested legs and that is one factor but not a huge one. The bike is my weak point not necessarily "fitness" wise but more experience wise. Staying in aero more, cornering better, shifting a little better, all of that would have dropped my bike split and that is what I intend to do in 2 weeks! Event comments: I liked this race. It is a great race for beginners since there is the super sprint distance. There was some confusion on the run course over who was going what direction. Luckily I knew one of the guys at the water station and he knew I was doing the sprint so he was able to shout out to me where to go but I do know a couple of people got pointed the wrong way. But that will happen when there are multiple distances. But overall definitly a good well run race. Last updated: 2010-07-26 12:00 AM

Wake-up - warm up on elliptical at home...I know it sounds weird but I have done it for almost every race I have done in the last 2 years and it seems to work! Had my usual banana and english muffin and diet mt. dew.
Got to the park - parked kind of nearby transition..not in the marshy section where the cars sunk and had to be towed out. Got transition set up, body marked, saw kimk which was great because she is always so positive and cheerful and I was nervous as usual. Saw Heidi K. who ended up winning the sprint...knowing she was there and that she and Becky who came in 3rd behind me was there made me nervous but also made me push hard because I knew they were my competition.
Did a short run..saw more donkeys (jwebs, pcs##, djdavey, nicole)...saw Tammy who was doing the Olympic and who did awesome!
