Swim
Comments: Opted to swim wide right. I was always on the outside of the swimmers and as a result always had clear water. I had no contact to speak of. Negative was there was nobody to draft off of, but I prefer clear water and no drafting to constant bumping. Second lap I tried to be more inside, but found it disrupted my rhythm so moved wide again. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Long run to transition. Wetsuit strippers provided. You are required to have shoes on before you mount. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: This is my weakest link. Downhill into Keene was terrifying for me. I was strong on the first lap. I kept it easy. The second lap I was slower but still felt good. The scenery was magical. From mile 100 to the end I did not change out of the small ring so that my legs would be fresh for the run. What would you do differently?: Do more long rides. Transition 2
Comments: Volunteers take your bike from you. I had my own personal assistant in transition who put sunscreen on me and got vaseline for me. Volunteers were outstanding. Run
Comments: Felt good until mile 8. Then had a cramp in my right calf. Then started loading up on gels. The cramp never went away totally, but I always felt that the gels were managing it. Made my stomach feel bloated, but was worth it. Pretty even splits and finished strongly. What would you do differently?: Start taking gels from mile 1. Post race
Warm down: None. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Event comments: A must do on the ironman circuit. Last updated: 2010-07-27 12:00 AM

Woke at 2am and had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Went back to sleep and woke up at 5 and had another PB and J.
No warm up,unless you count the swim across to the far end of the start.
