Pre-race routine:

Did not sleep well - sinus and headache. The beer, wine and BBQ from the previous night might have had something to do with it. To counter these effects, I swilled some crocodile blood with a Starbucks ice coffee (light on the ice, whole milk).
Event warmup:

I almost forgot to warm up. When the first wave left I started flapping my arms about trying to get some blood into them.

I decided to mellow out on the swim; the objective was to get to the bike without feeling winded at all. So, that's what I did.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Maybe I pushed that guy a little too hard when he cut across my path for the 2nd time. Sorry dude!

This is a long run out of transition. All in all I felt pretty good. Glad I did not wear socks - not necessary for such a short ride. I think the run to the bike was easier on my bare feet this year.
What would you do differently?:

A good ride. I'm starting to like those hills... I'm pretty happy with 133 out of 395 overall. Last year my average speed on this course was 16.8 mph. This year it was 18.46 mph. I am happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe I should have pushed just a little harder. I could have, maybe, but wanted to have a good run too.

Comments:

Was a little slow getting organized. Took gel off the bike instead of having some ready to go, and forgot I had socks stuffed into the shoes. Also, one of the cone head boys had racked his bike in my spot, so the cone helmet went flying (accidentally) so I wasted time putting the cone helmet back in it's place. Yeah, that was silly.
What would you do differently?:

Organize my space a little better.

Overall, I am still way down on the overall run ranking, but getting much better. Last year my time was 48:40, this year it was 35:44 - so approx 13 minutes better. I am extremely happy with this but know that I can take at least another 6 minutes off this time.
What would you do differently?:

Just keep on working at the run.

Warm down:

Not much, just hung out with anthonyt and waited for people that I know to cross the finish line.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. I felt good.

Event comments:

This is a great race - it's very well run and definitely worth doing. Yes, the course is slightly hilly but everyone has to do it and there are definite benefits to doing looped courses.

I hope to be back next year.
