Swim
Comments: after the initial shock of the water on the first dive in got acclimated and no problem. swam with no contacts but not as much of a problem as I thought it would be could see as much as one can see in the ocean. distance must have been a bit longer than 1/3 mile since swim time was 4 min. longer than usual for that distance. oh well. got it done and felt good about it. great to be in the thick of the battle of the swim. What would you do differently?: wetsuit, maybe. but the feeling of swimming open and free with the ocean was worth it. Transition 1
Comments: long jog down the boulevard around the corral to the bike. pop on the shoes, glasses, helmet and awat it goes. Bike
Comments: felt pretty good on the bike. except for dropping water bottle at one point pretty much a troubel free ride. Transition 2
Comments: didnt do any fancy stuff. did stop after a bit and take shoes off since it was a distance to bike rack place. smooth shoe changes. glad I put my speed laces on shoes.popped them right on. Run
Comments: got a cramp right off the bike. tried to work in out but didnt clear. stopped briefly at porto john to pee. seemed to clear the cramp. maybe it was the short rest also. lost a few minutes at rest stop. didnt feel I was running that fast, day was getting hot so didnt feel uber good. Post race
Warm down: walk around a bit and cheer isis in! she was smokin in the run. 2nd place in AG!! meet up with some folks and chit chat. grab some podium pics of jo! What limited your ability to perform faster: maybe wetsuit would have helped a faster swim however the time taking it off would be a negative for a short course. so overall I was happy (even if jo beat me by 30 seconds!;)) Event comments: Thorough race organization. course was safe. traffic nearly non-existant, crowds were good. overall a very good race.
