![]() Swim
Comments: This was a good swim. I stayed relaxed, found a rythym and was happy with my time at the finish. Maybe one of these days I'll break the 2min mark. What would you do differently?: Nothing ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I found my bike lying on the ground, so I lost time picking it up and finding my glasses, helmet, etc. I also took a few seconds to put on my Garmin strap for the run later. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I rack my bike by the saddle to save some time, but it doesn't sit very well because I'm a taller rider, so I can't rack it ideally. May have to just start racking it by the handlebars. ![]() Bike
Comments: I rode the course a few days before and my watts were the same for the test ride and the race, which was nice to see. After the race in Guelph where I couldn't generate any power I had concerns how I would feel after the swim, but it was fine. What would you do differently?: I could have pushed the hills more, but I kept thinking about the run. I was fine on the ride till the last 5km where we went straight into the wind. My power dropped off and I was suddenly getting passed. So I had to dig a bit deeper for those last few km. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: This was a good transition, just grabbed my stuff and went. ![]() Run
Comments: Good run, had a slight stitch at one point but it faded and didn't impact me. With about 3km to go the legs started to feel a bit tierd and I was glad I hadn't tried pushing harder on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Given where my running is at the moment I don't think I can expect to run any faster. Hopefully next year will be injury free and I'll log some good run mileage. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Basically lay on the ground and stayed there for a while. I pushed as hard as I could for the day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training. I felt comfortable with the swim, but know that I need a lot more time on the bike. It will be interesting if I can log the hours leading up to next year and see what improvements are possible. The run also needs more hours, but the big limiter was the ITB injury that has plagued me all year. Event comments: As always, TriSport puts on a great race. Nothing I'd change. Nothin really. Woke up, ate some cereal, packed up the car and ended out the door.
No warmup except for a bit of a swim before the start.
