Swim
Comments: During my warmup, I felt a little panicky (for no good reason), but after watching the faster swimmers take off and complete the course, I felt calmer and excited about it. I felt strong and ended up overtaking 3 people. What would you do differently?: Well, I supposed I should seed myself a little higher next time... but this didn't really create any problems, so I don't know that I will. I might have been able to push a little harder, but overall I'm really pleased with this swim. Transition 1
Comments: Much better T1 than last tri which was over 3 minutes. Felt good - slipped feet (sockless) into shoes, put on helmet, sucked down a GU, put on sunglasses and done! Only problem was trying to clip in on a hill (seriously, who stages the mount on the middle of a hill?) and get enough momentum to get going. Bike
Comments: I went out WAY too fast, and even though I knew it, I couldn't slow myself down. Averaged about 19 until the turnaround and then the major climbing started and pace fell. I think my bike had my pace at about 17.1, so I guess this includes the ride into T2. What would you do differently?: PACE MYSELF! I'm good at attacking on the hills - hills in general, I'm good at. But I went out way too fast and didn't have a lot left at the end when I really needed it. Transition 2
Comments: T2 felt pretty good, but should have been shorter. I sucked down a GU while putting on my shoes. What would you do differently?: Shave a little time off. Run
Comments: Settled into a 1 min run/1 min walk that I kept up until the end. Felt pretty good considering I pushed too hard at the beginning of the bike. What would you do differently?: Pick up the pace. Post race
Warm down: Walked around the finish area for a while, then took my stuff back to my car and walked my parents back to their car, then walked back to the finish area to check my results, then back to the car. Whew! What limited your ability to perform faster: Going out too hard on the bike limited my performance on the second half of the bike as well as the run. I KNEW I was going too fast, but I just couldn't get myself to slow down. Event comments: I give it a 4/5 only because I felt like the bike should have been described as "hilly" instead of "flat". I am comfortable riding hills, but a hill is a hill - call it what it is. Last updated: 2010-08-01 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4 and had 2 cups of coffee while reading the news. Got dressed and grabbed the water bottles, my prepacked breakfast, and prepacked bag. Bike was already in the car. Left about 4:50.
Set up my transition area, ate breakfast, walked around, used the restroom (no port-a-potties - yay!), then swam an easy 100.
