Swim
Comments: Ok, this is 3rd swim this year where I'm wondering if the course was short given my time is 3:35 faster than last year (no wetsuit 18:08 in 09). The top times are also quicker (1min to 1:30 for Elite same people) so I think it was a bit shorter, but overall I'm simply a faster swimmer with a wetsuit by A LOT. BUY THE SYNERGY ENDORPHIN and make sure your wetsuit has "FOREARM CATCH/GRIP PANELS". I'm still just a good not great swimmer but with this wetsuit on my swim times are very competitive. What would you do differently?: I've only been able to swim about 1/week this summer, so if I could up to 2X/week or better I can get even faster. Trying to push harder on swim workouts. Regardless, what used to be my weakest leg is now my strongest! Transition 1
Comments: Had major problems putting on my shirt. Pre-race I debated wearing it under wetsuit, but it was a little chilly so decided against. Then tested and took on and off which took 5 secs. But somehow the number, bottom of shirt got tangled so I had to untangle this down, then re-safety pin number. Extra 20 secs at least. Otherwise all was quick What would you do differently?: Wear shirt under wetsuit. Also I switched locations to wide open #600 area at last minute. Worked ok but last minute switch was hectic and gear was therefore unorganized. Bike
Comments: Had a very good bike ride, tried to stand-up a lot last 5 mins which helped with running. Pushed hard though not all out the whole time. I was suprised my time was essentially identical to my 09 time as I just bought clipless pedals and shoes. ONLY used once on bike before race (3 spin classes with shoes), so maybe I need to establish new muscles to get faster. What would you do differently?: Practice more with clipless pedals, push a bit harder and try to get more open road training in. Transition 2
Comments: Started out decent, but then couldn't find sunglasses and looked everywhere for them wasting time. Should have been faster. Take off what you don't need put on what you do and go regardless. What would you do differently?: layout area earlier pre-race and don't make last-minute changes. I don't think I can run in barefeet and leave pedals on bike, but might try that in practice as I get more used to new shoes Run
Comments: Pushed myself as hard as I could, near point of stomach discomfort. Thought I ran very fast and was surprised to see I was only 30 seconds faster than 09 when it was 85+ degrees and run was sheer torture. I'm not as good of a runner in 2010. What a fast field! More than 20% of triathletes competing ran faster than 7:30 miles!! What would you do differently?: Injured calf 3wks before on 2nd workout of day, stupid. Bought compression socks that expedited recovery and enabled me to race. Very happy with time given that injury and preseason achilles tendinitis that continues to linger but fading. Post race
Warm down: Jumped in Lake! What limited your ability to perform faster: Running injuries, transitions, maybe not practicing with clipless pedal system. Event comments: Great race, post race BBQ and lots of vendors, some random prizes and good awards presentations. Last updated: 2010-08-02 12:00 AM

showered for a change, oatmeal, a bit of coffee and quickly out the door. Got there a little after 7AM for 8AM start. Thinking from now on need 1:15 for controlled adequate pre-race prep.
None, just stretching. Good thing with this race is its a long wade out to swim start so was able to get head in water, establish breathing and make final adjustments to wetsuit and goggles
