Swim
Comments: Swim time includes 300 meter (yes, meters, not feet!) run to T1 What would you do differently?: Not run into the channel marker. I saw it, I thought I was passed it and the current pushed me into it. The post was full of barnacle and I scratched up the upper arm on my left side. Continue to work on swim. I think that we have seen some improvement. Transition 1
Comments: I decided that since the bike and run were short, I would wear my Garmin Forerunner on my wrist the whole time rather than mount it on the bike and switch for the run. I also decided to skip the bike gloves and the ear plugs for the swim. All of that worked out well for me. The run from the swim exit was longish -- I've heard 300 meters. The part on the cement was fine but the part on blacktop was ouch ouch ouch! Remember to stay on the cement as much as possible next time. What would you do differently?: Overall I think that T1 went well. I know that I can improve this with more practice. Bike
Comments: Fast flat course. Congested. Two no passing zones. I found it difficult to maintain following distance with so much congestion and that got into my head a little bit. My performance on the swim and can make for a lot of passing opportunities on the bike and I wanted to take advantage of it. On the way back to transition, I was stuck behind some lady who wanted to be fancy and unbuckle her shoes and do a flying dismount. She slowed. And slowed. And slowed. We were in the no passing zone. Finally I said something like, "Please pedal, I can't pass you here." I mean, seriously, if you slow down by 5mph are to be all fancy, are you really saving any time?! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Run was good. Again, I think that I should try to push myself more on the run. I think that I did better at that than at Lake Logan. I think that my run could be as strong a discipline for me as my bike. Continue to work on this. What would you do differently?: Set my goal higher and push more. Post race
Warm down: Met up with my parents, Kevin and the Girls. Visited with Stan, Lisa (who was jelly fished!), John, Frank and Karen. Met my parents at Starbucks to continue the visit What limited your ability to perform faster: Continue to work on the swim and push harder on the run. This was my third triathlon ever and I enjoyed it. Event comments: I enjoyed the event and I'd do it again! Last updated: 2010-08-03 12:00 AM

We drove to Wilmington on Friday and did packet pickup. Had a pre-race meal at Mellow Mushroom.
On Saturday, I got up at 5 am. I had an English muffin with peanut butter on it and a banana. I also had a water bottle of Camelbak Elixir. Kevin walked the dogs while I was getting dressed.
None to speak of. I set up transition and took the 6:30 bus to the swim start. My wave was not starting until 7:55 but the last bus was at 6:45 and I didn't want the stress of trying to jam onto the bus.
If I do this event again and have a late wave, I would consider bringing and old pair of running shoes to get myself to swim start. They had bags that you could label to get your stuff back.
I did a short swim just before my wave went. I swam enough to confirm that my goggles were OK.
