Pre-race routine:

Got on site at around 5:30. Being this was my first tri I wanted to get set as early as possible. Walking up I got marked then went and found my rack, set up my transition area and zoned out with my headphones on. As transition was closing I hit up the restroom and went to stretch and see the Elites go off.
Event warmup:

Jogging, windmills, squats, and push ups. Pretty simple really
Swim
  • 12m 10s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

Not bad, but not good. I've gone faster, but again this was my first and I'm not complaining about being 16 in a 40 man age group, and I only got kicked good in the face once.
What would you do differently?:

Need to focus on form and breathing off the bat and not get wrapped up in the physical nature of what's going on.
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

This was horrible. I knew I was slow but guess I had no idea. I just wanted to make sure I was doing things right and was REALLY slow. Ugh.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up and let my instincts lead.
Bike
  • 42m 34s
  • 20 kms
  • 28.19 km/hr
Comments:

Not bad. Feels good passing people on $2k-$3k bikes on my $800 one. Still felt good as I approached transition excpet my left foot was asleep.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Only mistake was having my water bottle in hand when I hit the top of the bridge and I had to ride down with it in hand.
Transition 2
  • 03m 17s
Comments:

So my left foot was asleep coming into T2 and I failed to get it unclipped as I came to a stop and boom, fell. So embarassing.
What would you do differently?:

Not fall. :P
Run
  • 28m 53s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

My worst event and I know that. I thought I had paced well throughout the race but apparently I was wrong. You live you learn.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more, pace better, have a better last 1.5 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, a hug from the wife and a pit stop at the bathroom.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inexperience and lack of pacing.

Event comments:

Unable to rate because I have nothing to compare it against. I loved the experience though.
