Swim
Comments: This was the most fun I have had in a swim yet. After 200y I realized I was going stroke for stroke the same speed as the guy next to me. I also knew I wasn't going to be able to hold the pace the whole race. I decided to fall in and draft for a while. This was the 1st time I had the confidence to match accelerations during a swim. With 150 y to finish I pulled out and sprinted to the end. I left the swim feeling like it was a warm-up and was probably 2-3 minutes faster than expected. This was a great experience for me. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: Slow, slow, slow. I wanted my garmin for the run so I thought I would put it in my shirt and put it on during the bike. I couldn't seem to get it in my pocket. What would you do differently?: not be so slow, I need to invest in a pair of tri bike shoes. I keep struggling with my getting my shoes on. I was also slow to get my wetsuit un-zipped and pulled off during the run to my bike. Bike
Comments: I went into this race with the mind-set that I need to figure some things out before Syracuse. I decided to take a real comfortable pace, and not overdo the hills. I had a blast I was really surprised by my time when it was all done. Overall I had a lot of fun on the bike. If I can ride with this level of effort and come close to this pace next month at Syracuse I'll be thrilled. What would you do differently?: drink more water. I realized at the end of the bike that I had only consumed 1/2 a water bottle. Transition 2
Comments: I got mixed up on where the dismount line was and start to dismount long before I should have. It was a little frustrating that they had a line marked on the path 50 yards before the dismount line. Run
Comments: This is where the fun stopped for me. I went out with a good pace for the 1st loop. After mile 4 I was in trouble. I am not sure if it was hyrdation or nutrition but I was really struggling to the finish. My pace dropped to 8:10 for mile 5 and 8:30 for mile 6. It probably only had a couple of minute impact on my overall race time but I need to figure this out before syracuse. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: hyrdation/nutrition Event comments: This is a great event. Very well orgainized and supported. And the food afterwards was great...gotta love wegmans. Last updated: 2010-08-05 12:00 AM

Up early, ate B'fast (oatmeal and PB) , drove ~1hour to the race.
Didn't really get a chance to warm-up. I was not very organized and didn't leave myself time for any real warm-up.
