  • 750 meters
  • 02m 10s / 100 meters
Comments:

my best swim yet! Water was really nice and clear, also fairly calm. My goal was to stay in the pack and draft a little better which I did and my time benefited from it.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 51s
Comments:

still having a hard time getting out of my wetsuit. It keeps getting stuck on my timing chip (ankle) and my wrist (watch). I think next time I will just take the chip off, then take my suit off, it will probably save me at least 30 sec.

Comments:

had an awesome run, 30th overall!! Since I have been training for a marathon, I was expecting to do well on this portion. Felt great the entire run, managed to pass quite a few people along the way. You know you're going fast when you pass people and they are looking at you like you're crazy or something!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

got a post race massage on my tight calves, did some other stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

killer climb on the bike!

Event comments:

Overall very good race, would definitely do it again. I will have to do more hill training on the bike for next time....

Course: Very tough climb up the escarpment in the first 5K, was not expecting that! There were quite a few people walking up it, I made it up riding the whole way but it was tough! Once up top, the course was fairly flat with a pretty good cross-wind for a lot of it. Going back down the escarpment was fun, but a little dangerous, I hit 70 km/h at one point!

Course: fairly flat run course, the last few K were through a forest on some nice trails including a bridge where we had to go up and down some stairs. It was a little confusing in some spots as far as directions go, I heard some people ran an extra K because it wasn't laid out very well
