Pre-race routine:

Ate two pieces of bread - all I could get down. Will definitely be adding Pepto to my pre-race routine in the future so I can get down more pre-race nutrition. Also barely slept - will add one Benadryl the night before.
Event warmup:

Did some very quick, light swimming.
Swim
  • 45m 20s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 09s / 100 yards
Comments:

Course was DEFINITELY short - everyone had good times. Found a girl going my pace and stayed on her feet. Kept me focused. Just told myself "only to the next buoy" every time I started feeling panicky. Flipped out when I saw my time coming out of the water.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - take more swim lessons to get better in generral.
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Good transition for me, though wetsuit stuck a little bit. Had given myself 5 minutes in my race plan, so can't complain.
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to do a flying mount.
Bike
  • 3h 35m
  • 53 miles
  • 14.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Started off strong, even held myself back a bit in the beginning. However, the heat started to take its toll on me at mile 30. Made it to the aid station at mile 50 on sheer guts. Got off the bike to grab water and give my legs and back a break and ended up puking everything up until I was dry heaving. Felt better afterwards, but collapsed at mile 53 and was taken to medical when I couldn't stand back up under my own power.
What would you do differently?:

1.) FIGURE OUT NUTRITION FOR THE HEAT.

2.) Work on bike fitness. I had let it slide after Tinman.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 00m
  • 13.1 miles
  •  min/mile
Post race
Warm down:

Laid down in medical tent with IV and oxygen.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nutrition and the heat.

Event comments:

Good race, although not enough aid stations on the bike, especially on such a hot day. They also didn't have ice or sponges.
