Overall Rank = 67/82
Age Group = M40-49
Age Group Rank = 11/12
Pre-race routine:

Civilized start time, so nothing special
Event warmup:

just getting in water to get used to cold water. Didn't help...
Swim
  • 46m 22s
  • 1500 meters
  • 03m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Hey, I was not the last one out of the lake, so that made me happy. Started good, FC was working, then caught a huge swell, big breath of water, couldn't settle, so switch to backstroke. Sighting was terrible, so I did lots of extra distance. Seriously dizzy when I stood up at end.
What would you do differently?:

practice OWS, relax, practice sighting more.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

slow due to dizzyness. plan did work, as no real problems, other than dizzy from swimming
What would you do differently?:

different order, socks/shoes last as it took a long time to be able to stand on one foot.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 21s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.33 mile/hr
Comments:

slow start, still recovering. bike felt good. general downhill on course helped speed. T1/T2 times included in bike, so bike was better than time indicated, as my t1 was real slow
What would you do differently?:

its all good
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

quick, worked as planned
What would you do differently?:

remember my own hat, so I dont have to borrow a cotton one on race day
Run
  • 54m 27s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

run felt good/strong. paced myself off another runner, and yak'd it up with him for entire run. picked up pace for last 2k, with strong finish.
What would you do differently?:

more running less talking sheesh
Post race
Warm down:

Eating freezies

What limited your ability to perform faster:

practice for raceday itself, don't know how hard to push on bike before run, that will come with practice, but I was too cautious.

Better swimming will make big difference, there is a free 10 minutes to be had

Event comments:

good group putting on the race. Draw prize was won by your truly at start, so I really liked it. Fun race that is pretty easy going, unstressful
