Swim
Comments: They had us start all together instead of the normal swim waves. It was kinda cool to start with them men, it was like a run race. What would you do differently?: Not much, I took it easy knowing I still had a long way to go. Transition 1
Comments: It took me about 3 times to get my shoes clipped in, but once in I felt like I was going at a great pace. What would you do differently?: learn how to do the shoes clipped in already with a rubber band thingy. Bike
Comments: All the times include the transitions, so the bike course said I did 47.27, but my computer said 42.34, so you can see that I took a long time getting off my bike and then into t2. OMG, just after the half way point on the bike my calf muscles were cramping up. The more I tried to stretch them the more they cramped up. I started to imagine that I would have to drop out of the run. After trying to stretch them while peddaling didn`t help I decided to not stretch and see how they went. Well, thankfully the cramps stopped, not sure what happened. What would you do differently?: not much, I enjoyed the bike and felt strong, except the cramps. Transition 2
Comments: because I ran without socks after the first run the lining came out of my right shoe. So, when I went to put on my running shoes the 2nd time around I had to take them off again and fix the bloody souls so it wouldn`t crunch up under my foot. Took way to long, but I wanted to be comfortable and not have to stop during the run to fix them. What would you do differently?: stick my souls down with some super glue or something. must learn how to do the bike shoe clipped in thing and how to take my feet out of bike shoes on the the bike, running with them on is terribly slow. Run
Comments: this sucked, I felt so old. I was running with old people(well older than me), but I did manage to pass them in the last mile...thankgoodness. I was pooped, but managed to keep it going, but not as fast as I should be running. What would you do differently?: I need to do temp work, lots of it. My speed is just terrible. Post race
Warm down: drank, drank and drank water water and amino fluids. Ate a banana, some hawaiian sweet bread and got a free leg massage. What limited your ability to perform faster: transitions, and running speed...just suck at fast running. Event comments: it went great. I really missed the swim, running first completly is not my kettle of fish and I don`t think I would sign up for that kind of race. If I was being nit pickie then I would have to say that the drinks at the end were not COLD. I like to come in and get icey cold water and amino fluids. The seemed to be just room temp, I like them freezing. Last updated: 2006-02-05 12:00 AM

got up at 4.30 after a crap nights sleep (typical for a race). Ate a power bar, vitamin b and some water.
Walked around with hubby, stretched then ran for about 5min.
