Swim
Comments: Didn't feel like a good swim. Kept up with Cheri to the turn around but then she took off. What would you do differently?: Maybe I should have warmed up swimming/ Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit was hard to get off. I didn't practice it and was so tired from the swim that I couldn't run up the hill (!) to the transition. Bike
Comments: I did very poorly on the bike. Very disappointing.MY legs were fried. Not sure why. It could be from walking all over creation with the grandkids yesterday. We walked to Riverside Park and then to the fair and I didn't eat or rest much at all yesterday. I also did a tough hilly bike on Thursday. I was moving into my middle chainring a lot on the hills and I never do that except on the largest hills. So something was wrong. What would you do differently?: Rest the day before and taper properly. Transition 2
Comments: It was slow but ok. Run
Comments: Not a great time for me. But not horrible. Hills were very slow. What would you do differently?: Hill training. Post race
Warm down: Nothing--bad girl What limited your ability to perform faster: A little overtrained maybe. The kids yesterday wore me out. DId get a really deep tissue massage n Wed which was a good thing, I think. Event comments: Poorly organized. No t-shirts, a PLASTIC bag from Hammergel (not even a race bag) and a towel. Nothing much came back from a hefty $55 entry fee since sponsors donated the prizes, volunteers did the safety, the medals for the winners were generic--the place and division wasn't even on them, nor was the name of the race. Potholes in the bike transition area--that was bad. This guy must not have done much pre-race work. The pre-race info came 2 days before the event which was quite late and annoying. The food afterwards was so little that he should be embarassed--banana quarters, CLif bars, water. I won't do this race again. Last updated: 2010-08-08 12:00 AM

Overall: I was overtrained (see my log for the week prior--no rest days, no taper) and over-tired (we had the grandkids the day before and walked all over the place.) Live and learn.
Got up at 4:45 am to eat. Left house at 5:45. Arrived around 6:30 am
Just a little biking to make sure gears worked well and ran a little for a warm up. Stretched before swim
