Pre-race routine:

Woke up about 4:45. My dad was nice enough to drive me today, so more sleep on the car ride. Picked up my packet, got marked, and started to set up my transition. Not a real big eat-before-the-race person, and this being a sprint I figured I would be ok without.
Event warmup:

I started with the bike, and did two loops of the course. First one was all easy, and the second I started to speed things up a bit. Racked the bike and took a few minutes before doing a light jog. The jog was about a mile long. Finished with about 20 minutes before go time, so I just hung out and got in the right state of mind.
Swim
  • 10m 14s
  • 700 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

on the results it added in the swim time with T1. They did have a race clock on the pool deck. Being a former college swimmer, this was pretty easy for me. They started waves of 60, using 15 lanes with 4 people in each lane. Two started on one side with two on the other. I was the fastest in the lane, and tried my best not to run the other guys over too much.
What would you do differently?:

I really haven't been training for the swim all too much. So just get more practices and volume in before the my next tri.
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

There was no real T1 time, it was added to the swim. But a little subtraction fixes that problem. Had to run about 200-300 yards to get to my bike on the rack. Threw my cap and googles down on my bag, and grabbed my helmet and sunglasses. I didn't bother with socks. I already had my shoes clipped on and held in place with a rubber band. I slipped trying to get on the bike, probably since i was soaking wet. Took two tries but i finally got on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Not slip gettting on the bike
Bike
  • 35m

Comments:

It was the first time I was riding the course. They had sent an email out with directions for the bike course and other rules. The bike course sounded very confusing. After doing my warm up, my worries about screwing up during the bike were gone. The course was laid out great. The big hill was right out of transition and I pedaled up the hill with my feet on the top of my shoes. I got my feet in on the flat right afterwards. Kept a solid pace, or at least tried too. Really worked on the downhill sections to keep the speed up.
What would you do differently?:

Practice some more hills and just get faster overall on the bike
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Went flawless. Rode on top of shoes, jumped off bike and ran to the rack. Set my helmet down, slipped my shoes on with no socks, and tightened them up. Those quick laces work really well. I had put a little vasaline on the shoes just so they would slip on easier. Grabbed my watch and visor and ran on out.
What would you do differently?:

nothing went awesome
Run
  • 22m 57s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

I'm not a runner at all. Kinda tough. Mostly hills. Tried to keep a solid pace going. A couple of guys past me, I'd say about 4 total, 2 of which were in my age group.
What would you do differently?:

Just run more. Hills, flats, speed work. Just need to get faster on this part.
Post race
Warm down:

Haha, nothing. I did think about it tho, so does that count. Got some water and food. Waited and watched one of my friends do her race

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. I feel at this point that was about as fast as i could go. I just need to change that.

Event comments:

Great Race. There were fast guys, winned was 1:01, and a lot of first timers. This actually was my first full tri. I competed in the Edinboro Tri, but we did not swim because of a high level of e-coli in the lake. The course was marked very well. Many volunteers to help you with anything. I will be doing this one again next year for sure.
