Swim
Comments: Great swim, only a little disappointed that no wetsuits allowed as I was hoping to practice for Madison but short and warm so would have been little silly. Went really well, passed many from previous waves but never crouded. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: Little trouble with zipper of speedsuit again but not too bad. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: I did this race for the hills in prep for Madison. Practiced the technique of spinning the hills and avoiding the temptation to stand and force it. Went pretty well. The day before as I was oiling the chain I noticed that the crank was not spinning free, there was definate resistance so it must be gunked up or a bearing issue. It is at the shop now getting checked over. Hopefully that means I should have been faster bc. I was not pleased with my time overall on the bike. But a beautiful day for a ride in the hills. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: We end up coming in with the short course folks so I had a slow ride on the single file path in the park and was unable to do a quick dismount. What would you do differently?: nothing, it is what it is Run
Comments: I have done the sprint before which is flat as can be and I thought the olympic was too but going out past the sprint turn around is uphill. Nothing severe but enough to get my attention. About a half a mile into it me and another Dave were at the same pace amd decided to keep each other honest and push to the end . My hammy started to tighten so I let him go with a half mile left. Nothing big but this was not an A or B race so didn't want to do anything stupid. I was surprised to see that I finished second and my pal took first in his age group so it was a very good day after all. Post race
Warm down: Chicken breast sandwich in food tent. Should have waited for a massage but didn't want to make the family wait. What limited your ability to perform faster: It will be great if my bike was fighting me and can get it fixed for Madison. Event comments: I prefer sprints where you can just go all out but this was a very nice race and plan on doing it many more times. Last updated: 2010-08-09 12:00 AM

Up at 4:00, ate half bagle with pb&j, packed and drove to race. Takes about 45 minutes to get there. Ate some more on the way over. Packet pick-up, body marking and set up transition. A friend, Gearoid was there as well for the olympic.
Short bike, jog and swim prior but not much.
