Pre-race routine:

I hadn't planned to do this race, but with the family out of town for the weekend I went over to packet resell and got one.
Event warmup:

Ran about a mile and swam a couple hundred yards
Swim
  • 11m 6s
  • 546 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not the best swim for me. I had a hard time finding a rythm.
Transition 1
  • 01m 22s
Comments:

Thought I would go with the shoes clipped in this time since the run to the dismount line was a good distance. Got on the bike ok but my shoe got caught and as I was trying to adjust it I stubbed my toe on the ground. OUCH! (I have a nice chunk taken out of the end of the big toe and its a little purple). Got going and when I was trying to get my right shoe on the strap was stuck and I could not get it to move. Took me several minutes of messing with it and moving way to slow down Fry Rd to get it fixed.
What would you do differently?:

Put my shoes on in transistion. Every time I try to go with my shoes clipped in I seem to regret it.
Bike
  • 38m 43s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Not to back considering my toe hurting and the time wasted trying to get my shoe fixed
What would you do differently?:

Need more time on the bike. Havent been riding enough lately
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

Nothing. Every thing went fine here
Run
  • 31m 39s
  • 3.5 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Toe hurt some, but I knew I wasn't going to be able to catch the guys in front of me so I just cruised.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched and drank a lot. Noticed my shoe was bloody around my toe so I guess I at least had a battle scar. Visited with friends and hung out with the Bike Barn Triathlon Club.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hurting toe and having to mess with my shoe. Could always use more training but family comes first.

Event comments:

Aaron puts on a great race.
