Swim
Comments: Better swim than the last race. Navigation was much better and I felt good about the warmup. I definitely need to spend more time in the water to get my speed back up. What would you do differently?: Spend more time training, particularly speed sessions. Transition 1
Comments: Overall a decent transition. Bike
Comments: Hilly courses usually aren't my strong suit but I felt great about this one. Some of the downhills were awesome - I was cranking 90+rpm in my biggest gear and passing a bunch of people. On the ups, I did pretty well. I was out of the saddle a few times to push up a hill and generally held my own - the ups normally being a bit of a weak spot for me. Transition 2
Comments: Fairly fast transition. Picked up my stuff and ran rather than trying to put everything together in transition. Run
Comments: The first mile or so was fairly slow but I picked up once I had recovered a bit and stepped up the pace to around 7:45. What would you do differently?: More run training, particularly speed work. Post race
Warm down: Walked around to watch for Jen and the rest of the KBS crew. Light stretching while standing around. Event comments: This was a great race. There were a ton of volunteers and more aid stations than I knew what to do with. They had water, sports drink, and Gu which was particularly impressive for a sprint. The course is beautiful and the folks in northern Michigan are just really darn nice. Last updated: 2010-08-11 12:00 AM

Woke up and grabbed an English muffin with butter and some coffee from the hotel. Drove over to the venue.
Swam a hundred yards or so fifteen minutes before the start to get the wetsuit situated then warmed up again about three minutes before.
