Run
Comments: First run went well. Was a little worried about going out too fast, but I reigned it in pretty well. Expected to be 9-10 minute pace so I improved on that but didn't feel too tired at the end. What would you do differently?: Maybe go out a little faster a lot faster if better prepared. Transition 1
Comments: I wasn't really worried about transitions. I knew they would be slowish and I was more concerned about remembering everything...helmet on etc. What would you do differently?: Go a little faster but not much really Bike
Comments: This was tough for me. My background is running, I hadn't spent much time on the bike in the last few weeks and I could tell. I had also taken my seatpost out for some reason and wasn't careful about getting it back at the correct height. about 5 miles in my left knee started to bother me. I thought I could ride through it, but around mile 9 I pulled off and readjusted the height. it felt much better for a while. The other thing I really noticed was a lot of surges and sags in energy. I think my nutrition was off and as I was consuming my gatorade it was helping. As flat as the course was, I noticed the inclines. What would you do differently?: More time in the saddle training Transition 2
Comments: Again not worried about time. A little confused because they had been very strict about bikes being racked on the correct side, and there was a bike almost hanging over my equipment. Probably didnt slow me much though Run
Comments: Having never done a brick I was shocked at how hard it was to move my legs. It felt hard, but the garmin said I was moving at a decent clip for me so I wasn't too worried. About a half mile in everything really started to loosen up and I was able to start picking people off one at a time. None in my age group but it still helps keep me moving forward What would you do differently?: Nothing here Post race
Warm down: Walk around and wait for transition to open and get my bike out What limited your ability to perform faster: Very little training Event comments: This race was harder than I expected and is was mostly serious racers. I think I had the only mountain/hybrid on the course. Everyone at least had a road bike and most were TT bikes. I misread the entry and had my mind set on 12 miles for the bike so 16 kind of threw me and my time is off by less than the additional mileage so I did pretty well given my training. Overall it was enjoyable enough to give multisport races another try, but I will spend more time getting training in prep. I basically jumped in and went with less than 7 days of training in the last month. Last updated: 2010-08-11 12:00 AM

Got there plenty early, set up my bike in transition. Half mile warm up jog, stayed warm in the car until the prerace meeting. Basically tried to keep the edge off. My first multi sport event and I was a tad nervous, especially since I hadn't really put much into my training. I knew I would finish but that was about it.
