Swim
Comments: Started Drafting 1/2 through swim. Good breathing. What would you do differently?: More freestyle at start of race to stay ahead of slow swimmers. Transition 1
Comments: Horrible start on bike, almost wrecked. Grabbed Power Bar and ate through first 1/2 mile. What would you do differently?: Don't sit down to put on Socks and Shoes!! Dry off more and catch breath before taking off with bike. Bike
Comments: Had to jump off bike during 13th mile while going up hill. Stopped a few times on return to catch breath and drink water. Body was exhausted and breathing was labored. Hard finish through last 3 miles, could not get breathing right. It was a decent job on the bike considering all of the hills and the little practice of hills with the bike. What would you do differently?: Practice gear changes at the right time for larger hills. Slow down on straight a-ways for water, don't stop on bike. Transition 2
Comments: I was the last person on my rack to return. My spot was taken on the rack and had to rack in alternate location. Fast Transition! Had to ask a finisher where the start of the run was, he looked at me with the eyes, "I sure am glad that I've finished!" What would you do differently?: Practice dismounting bike, next time don't forget to take Shot Blocks! Pay attention to course. There were not any racers infront of me to follow. Run
Comments: Started off the run very strong and legs felt good. Kept good pace through first mile, only stopping once. Ran straight through second mile. Took 2 short breaks on third mile. Felt good and had great breathing! Had a good finish at the end. A lady on the side line said, "Go ahead and shave off a few seconds!" I turned on the NOS and blasted thru the finish line with the crowd cheering me on. It felt great! What would you do differently?: Not Stop! Don't Stop! Slow down - But Don't STOP!! Run on center of road to keep feet on even surface and not risk turning ankle. Post race
Warm down: Walk around a bit. Try to catch breath. What limited your ability to perform faster: Could not catch breath after the end of the race, had to take short hiccup breaths. Mind was going crazy and could not think properly. Event comments: Great Race! Plenty of Water on run course. Volunteers were awesome and post race activites were the BOMB! Photographer, Band .... (no massage therapist or outside vendors) Food was great: Smoothies, Crapes, Pudding, Fruit, Bloody Mary Mix, different kinds of teas, Salmon, Crab Patties, Rice Pilaf ...
