Swim
Comments: Terrible swim...too many people in the water caused me to never get any rhythm. Got swam over, hit, swallowed lots of water. Last time I swam here my time was 10:06. Today it was almost 12 mins. I spent too much time avoiding other swimmers, i.e., stopping, trying to figure out where I was, etc. It was not a fun swim. I think instead of the waves starting every 3 mins they should have been 5 mins between waves in order to thin out all the swimmers. What would you do differently?: I'm not an aggressive swimmer because I lack confidence, however, I think in that type of a congested mess, you need to be aggressive and just get after it; regardless if you sink and/or hit others. They certainly didn't mind hitting me. Transition 1
Comments: Very slow...really no excuse for this time. Just couldn't get my head into it after my swim. What would you do differently?: Got after it faster and not taken my time drinking some Gatorade, putting on my shoes, etc. I was organized, just not as motivated after the swim. Bike
Comments: Fastest bike ride for me in a very long time. My legs were a little heavy at the very beginning, but once onto Foothill I got a rhythm going. What would you do differently?: Start out faster. Transition 2
Comments: Not a bad transition, but probably could of even gotten out faster. I drank some more Gatorade before beginning my run which obviously took some time away. What would you do differently?: Drink sooner while on my bike so I can get out of the transition faster Run
Comments: Nice run. Wish I could of went a little faster since I wasn't fatigued when I finished. Post race
Warm down: Water, oranges, banana, and water. Walked around looking at the displays. Event comments: This was my third year at this event and I really enjoy it. It's close to home (w/n an hour), has a lake swim in warm water, and the bike and run courses are also enjoyable. To top things off, I felt that all the volunteers did a great job. I would recommend this event to all beginners and intermediate racers. Next year though I would like to encourage them to go with 5 mins between the waves in the swim and not 3 mins as there's just too many people in the way. Last updated: 2010-08-13 12:00 AM

Up at 5:15 for the hour-long drive to the race. Some toast and an can of Ensure Wild Berry for breakfast. Took a cup of coffee with me and made great time arriving at the park by 6:30 am. I had registered on Saturday so all I needed to do was rack my bike and warm up for the race.
