Swim
Comments: Not real proud of this swim time but if you look at my goals - I met them. I wanted to start off easy for the first 100-150 meters and then speed up as distance went on to conserve energy and account for the addrenaline rush. It worked just think I went too slow. Finished strong though but could have pushed myself harder. What would you do differently?: Swim harder and do more open water swims closer to race day. Transition 1
Comments: I've never had a transition so far away from the swim so this was my first time to have to run the distance to T1. Plus, I was in the FAR BACK but once I got there, I got in my bike shoes and took off. Was there maybe 30 seconds. What would you do differently?: Run harder to my transition spot. Bike
Comments: Course was hilly, there were two hills that really worked my legs - at the beginning and on the backside of the bike course. But overall a good hilly course. Great workout. New PR for me. What would you do differently?: Practice doing more hills and fartlek drills. Transition 2
Comments: I was very pleased with this T2 time. Considering I had to run to the far back of transition and did a quick wardrobe change and was off to run. Practice paid off. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: My goal for the run was to keep a comfortable and steady pace. I did that. I didn't want to hit a wall like I did at my last tri. My legs loosened up quicker than I thought which let me keep the pace I wanted to conserve energy throughout the course. Once I got closer to the finish, I bumped up the pace. I wanted to finish strong. What would you do differently?: Bump up the pace but this is just my second tri and the run isn't my strongest leg so I will always be adjusting my run tactics and goals. Post race
Warm down: Loaded up on fluids and talked with friends and family. Did some stretches as I cleaned up my transition area. What limited your ability to perform faster: Performance measures. I will follow a more formal triathlon workout plan witht he prep, base, build and taper phases. But happy overall with my performance. Event comments: Great race, will probably do it again next year. Alarm was set to go off at 5:00 but woke up at 4:30 probably because of anxiety. Had 1.5 quarts of water with a bagel with peanut butter. Stretched and loaded up my bike to head to the race site.
I got there too late to try and get a quick warm up in the lake so I just ran around for 5 minutes and did some stretching until my start time.
