Run
Comments: 1st part of course more uphill. my arms were leaden & most toes completely numb, oddly enough, at start. thawed out - great temps otherwise, though, except chest really hurt from breathing the cold air...something for me to get used to. walked after 1st couple of min to catch breath, and a couple of other times after pushing pace. not sure the miles were marked. What would you do differently?: nothing. run w/ periodic walking works for me - able to run faster that way, so not going to fight it anymore. want to go even faster tho, but happy w/ time. Post race
Warm down: stretched. searched for food, but they wouldn't let us have it What limited your ability to perform faster: nothing. wish was 10 degrees warmer. no big deal Event comments: 5K-ers weren't allowed to have the food. Able to sneak banana later - volunteers told us they weren't allowed to give it out yet, and couldn't/wouldn't tell us when they could. very lame! only water accessible was bottle given as went thru finish chute; none available later. did have little cups of phillips rest. soup for us - reddish water base with bits of veggie floating in it. only food available, not only required standing in a long line, it reminded me of warm vomit. a lot of hassle for a 5K, esp w/ having to go to the football stadium & navigate parking there for packet pickup - maybe more fun for the 1/2 mar/marathoners, but the 5k seemed like poor stepchild.
