Pre-race routine:

Got up and had coffee and a banana. I had to get my contacts in and that takes me some time because I am new to it..but I got them in! Left for the race at 6am
Event warmup:

Swam the swim course before the race. I wore my wetsuit because the water is...kinda nasty... and the air temps were cool
Swim
  • 07m 57s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

Put myself right up front even though my wave was 40 and over and there were a lot of fast folks at this race. Started off too fast! I got to the first bouy and I was first but my HR was through the roof and I almost felt like I was having a panic attack. Slowed my pace wayyyy down and my HR came down. Passed some folks from the wave in front of me and came out of the water fine.
What would you do differently?:

Not go out so fast...or practice more interval work
Transition 1
  • 03m 23s
Comments:

Had to run up a hill into transition in my bare feet. Feet werent loving it, as it still hurts to walk barefoot let alone run! Decided my transition times would suck...so I took my time. Which make absolutely no sense!!!
What would you do differently?:

Not hacve a freaking tea party in transition. This is a race not Alice in Wonderland!
Bike
  • 46m 6s
  • 14 miles
  • 18.22 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

Alice is back for another tea party!!! Again took way too much time in transition but needed to get my shoes on correctly so my feet would be OK!
What would you do differently?:

MOVE FASTER!!!
Run
  • 29m 11s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

I did walk/ run this course but mostly because there were areas that were really rocky and loose. I didnt want to roll my ankle and the rocks really didnt feel great.
What would you do differently?:

Run more and run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Had a bananna and some yogurt.Talked to a few racers. If you race you get to eat!!!! Found my husband and gathered my stuff and left. Went for a big breakfast after the race.

Event comments:

Great job by sun multisport on putting on a new race. The lake is murky but its a short swim! Bike and run courses were great!!!Everything was well organized and there were a ton of volunteers. Nice job!!!I would highly recommend this race. Lots of fun
