Pre-race routine:

We were vacationing in Tahoe City, so it was just a quick 20 minute drive to the lake. Ate a little Cliff Bar and a banana. Got setup in transition and wandered around.

Swim was a new experience. I learned a whole lot. My ability was fine, but I realized my technique needed to change from pool swimming. Had to struggle to get out ahead, but finished strong.

Beautiful setting for a swim though...water was crystal clear.
What would you do differently?:

Train in the OW, which is what I did as soon as I got home.

Leave transition....climb a mountain. That pretty much describes it to a tee. The altitudemade it even harder, but I was happy with myself when I got to the top. Was extra fun and scary hauling ass back down the hill.
