In my last race I blew up on the bike. After looking back at my rides this year I realized that I was trying to ride at the same pace I did when my fitness was way better and my plan today was to ride out at a heart rate of 150 or less and then push it on the way back. It worked well and I had a great ride. Passed 150 bikes, got passed by 30.

lack of training and old bones

Event comments:

Pleased with the mental adjustments I made to my strategy today. I felt like I performed well. Especially please with my run after the bike. I was faster in all 3 sports than I was in the shorter race I did last month. Temperature probably helped too.

Historically this race has had a weather curse, but today was perfect. Makes you really appreciate the beauty of where we live!
