Comments: Much better race this year - comparing Garmin data - lot fewer speed spikes up to High Cliff - found a good group and stuck with it. For the most part up to High Cliff was in a good-sized paceline (10+) or for a while a decent peloton (30+). Stuck with the speed of the group and waited to cycle round to take pulls. High Cliff always breaks the groups up - either from food breaks or the hills - got into one decent paceline south - but the entire easterly route was solo. Coming back into Fond Du Lac was able to hook up with a small group to share the pulls. What would you do differently?: Would love to have a bigger pack coming out of High Cliff - the winds are usually worse on the way back in - and smaller groups makes more work. Other than that - very pleased with the day. Post race
Warm down: 3 mile transition run, followed by sticking my feet in the ice bath, then spaghetti and bread sticks. What limited your ability to perform faster: Soloing for about 10 miles into the headwinds heading east - took my average speed down below 21 mph. Event comments: Volunteers were awesome. Love the bottle drops - especially the second one just before the church - was nice to get some straight water to douse as the day warmed up. Last updated: 2010-08-21 12:00 AM
