Sunny
Total Time = 1h 07m 7s
Overall Rank = 38/219
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 5/14
Pre-race routine:

I got up and ate a half a bowl of oatmeal and a banana. Drank some gatorade.
Event warmup:

Did not really warm up. Sat in the exercise pool which was warmer than the regular pool for a little bit to watch my wife swim.
Swim
  • 04m 33s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

The course was crazy. It only had 5 lanes and I feel as though everyone posted a swim time that was not accurate. I had to pass 5 people and pretty much was walking down the lane at one point. There was a someone in front of me who had no idea. I probably could have swam 10-15 seconds if not more faster if not for the crappy times in front of me.
What would you do differently?:

Put in a faster swim time. I have improved quite a bit in the pool this summer and I'm happy with my time otherwise.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

I really need to practice this more. I felt really confused. It was my first triathlon but practicing would have helped.
Bike
  • 35m 54s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.71 mile/hr
Comments:

This is where I am weakest. I really need to ride the bike more. I just have not had as much time to ride as I would like.
What would you do differently?:

Ride more!
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

I started to run out of the transition with my helmet on. Oops. Everything else went well.
What would you do differently?:

Take my helmet off!
Run
  • 23m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt pretty terrible during the first 1.5 miles but I really picked it up and ran very well for the last half. The hills were tough but I felt like I passed a ton of people coming up the last 3 hills.
What would you do differently?:

Just work on bricks more.
Post race
Warm down:

Ran back to a friend who was watching and waited for my wife and friend to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not training on the bike enough and not putting in a faster swim time.

Event comments:

I was supposed to do the BASF All Smiles Triathlon but was in a car accident the week before and had to back off. I was really happy to find a similar race and be able to compete. I'm really happy that I am finally a triathlete!! Sticker will be on my car soon!
