Pre-race routine:

Up early for a little breakfast and trying to get things moving. Body and mind still on west coast time, so not an easy task. Drove to race site for packet pick up.
Event warmup:

A couple of trips between the car and Frontier Field for packet pick up, and a couple of bathroom stops.
Ran, with some pick ups to the race start and saw the full marathoners off. Back to the bathroom for one more!

Comments:

Started a little further back hoping to avoid the first mile sprint that I sometimes get into racing with the front of the pack. I probably went a bit too far back as the first mile I was slower than I wanted to be, but not much.

Watched the miles click off trying to hold a steady pace, sipping some Infinite at every mile. Had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction with my shoes coming untied about mile 5 or 6, but otherwise it was mostly uneventful.

My goal was to be around 1:48, with the plan to start with an 8:00 +/- pace and see if I could hold that through end making my reach goal about 1:45. Finished with an 8:02 pace when the extra distance before the start is figured in, so I am happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

This was "technically" a training run for IMFL so nothing really. I have been using the same Pfitzinger plan for the run training on top of the BT bike and swim plan. It is basically a run often, run slow type plan which proves that philosophy will continue to make me a better runner!
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a chocolate milk and a banana. Went out to meet Connie and my mom, change and cheer in my sister and law who also ran the half. After she got in, we all went up to meet about a mile from the finish to wait for my neice and her friend who were doing the full marathon.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This is where I normally put my weight as an issue, and there is still room for improvement here. But I have made progress on that front. But I am coming to realize the one time through a training plan is not going to give the results I am hoping for. It is going to take several years of building and recovering and putting in the miles to significant gains.

Event comments:

Well run local race.
