Swim
Comments: Pool was big enough to be going one way the whole time, which made for duck and under the ropes every 25...not too bad, but wasnt expecting this...first time ever, not to be passed by anyone..felt good..I actually caught a few the last 2 laps. What would you do differently?: for today,,,not sure it would have been any better being w faster time...just comfortable.. Transition 1
Comments: as i was getting to race belt, one of the holes broke...so had to adjust to make it work...that took some time...have to fig this out...but overall, not bad. good to get away from 2-3 min transitions!! Transition helped that it was close to pool.. What would you do differently?: had a bit of a time looking for rack...just figure out race bid and belt. Bike
Comments: started off ok...when we made a turn into the sun, it was rough spotting the potholes...happen to be the only stretch where there were potholes...rolling hills...Heard a thump, didnt think anything of it until later, went down to aero..and no arm rest....bummer! will have to fix that...Incoming hills on way back got to me a bit but still did ok.. What would you do differently?: maybe not press so much early hills, and concentrate on higher cadence...too much big gear??? Transition 2
Comments: this was good...out quick..maybe helmet off sooner...racking bike smoother would help some....No socks on, so that helped some.. Run
Comments: First lap was a bit of awkwardness....After 1/2 lap or so, things got better and got into groove. Last 1 1/2 laps felt good and started to feel comfortable w pace. What would you do differently?: just have to be patient on how this feels coming off the bike and hopefully get into pace sooner. Overall run w good considering where I am in training. Need to add a couple of runs / wk to do better...Get hr run back!! Post race
Warm down: Back and forth quarters bringing others in....felt good..Must have run at least 2 more miles..needed that ;) What limited your ability to perform faster: bike issues... Event comments: Guess there will always be room for improvement somewhere...Congrats to my xc kids doing this race....We will do it again on the 17th of Oct...Stay tuned...
